Our Process

Building products the “Lean Startup” way

A startup is a human institution designed to deliver a new product or service under conditions of extreme uncertainty.
— Eric Ries, The Lean Startup

Our mission is to help our clients grow in a digital world. To deliver growth, we model each engagement as a virtual startup where LambdaZen manages and develops the technology and the client manages and develops “end customer.”

The Lean Startup Method offers a “scientific approach to creating and managing startups and get a desired product to the customers’ hands faster.” We use this methodology to minimize the risks and maximize the ROI of our engagements.

The Lean Startup Method

The Lean Startup Method advocates two closely-linked but parallel tracks when building a desired product, viz.

  1. Customer development: Our clients typically take the lead in customer development. Since most of our clients are thought leaders and domain experts with access to the target market, they find it easy to identify beta customers, develop marketing materials and build a sales process.
  2. Agile development of technology: LambdaZen typically leads technology development which includes UX design, software development, product management, quality assurance and operational support. We create a series of MVPs and get feedback from the end-customers. Our preferred agile methodology is Kanban which is suited for elastic teams working on requirements that come in bursts from learning cycles.

The best kind of customer feedback is revenue, especially for B2B products. The Lean Startup Method offers a disciplined way to experiment with the product, its positioning and the target customer profile to find a good “product-market fit.” In our prior engagements, we noticed that seemingly minor changes to the product and its positioning can have a dramatic impact on the product’s success.
